Tradition

At my grandparents' house on Christmas Eve, we used to put hay under the tablecloth. It's a Polish tradition to symbolize the hay in the manger. We don't do it anymore, and that makes me a little sad. I suppose that since I never had to clean up the mess, I never saw the downside.

Hey I'm glad you shared that, I never heard that before. Interesting.

hey Jessica. I don't think many people follow any traditions anymore.

It is sad...but it would be nice to create your own that you can pass on to your kids...grandkids, great grandkids :)

In the year 2099..one of your descendats will say, "this tradition started with our great great great great...etc....". It sounds nice..

Happy Holidays to you and your family Jessica!!

I have my own christmas tradition. I must curl up on the couch, with cup of hot chocolate in hand to watch "A Christmas Carol" (The 1951 Alistair Sims' version). It ain't christmas for me if I don't get to watch that.

Merry Christmas to you and I hope 2008 brings great joy for you.

I have never heard of that tradition either. Sounds kinda cool but I can imagine it could create quite a mess if it got tracked throughout the rest of the house. However I sure if you wanted to continue it at YOUR house the rest of the family would be fine with that :-)

I hated that hay. Kept making the glasses tippy.
