Seth figured out how to open the gate at the top of the basement stairs. We're still going to leave it up. It offers us a precious few seconds to stop him from tumbling down.

OH NO! I guess Jamie will be figuring out the gate at the top of our stairs soon since he seems to be just behind Seth.

Tonight, even after I mentioned the gate here on my blog, that little turkey took it down and got all the way down the stairs into the basement before I noticed. When he spotted me coming, he ran away, right over to the wood stove, which fascinates him. "Fah-duh." (Fire.)

Fortunately, he has a very good understanding of "hot" and won't touch it, but I still worry that he'll burn himself by falling and touching it accidentally.

The good news is that I've outwitted him. I've used a twist tie to secure the lever in place. And even then, I didn't twist it enough at first. He actually managed to undo the twist tie! Apparently I don't give that child enough credit. Well, the underestimation ends now.

I am amazed at their skills. I no longer double knot Jamie's sneakers as the little bugger has figured out how to untie them still!

Sounds like you need those plastic zip ties that can only be taken off by cutting. I'd be nervous too. James can be so clumsy sometimes, tripping and falling over his own feet!

little devious mind at work. Is this the beginning?

Get the industrial strength twist ties, the secure anything...including a 78 lbs dog in her crate

We took the gates down long ago since they turned into more of hinderance for us than Tommy. They really are too smart for their own good sometimes.
