New rule

You can see from my twitter feed that I've resolved to weigh myself no more than twice a week. The day-to-day weight fluctuations are a drag. Yesterday, the lying scale said I'd lost eleven pounds (woo-hoo!); today, it said seven pounds (boo!). Stupid scale.

P&P is on its way, but I won't open it until I'm sure that I've actually lost the promised ten pounds. Maybe my next reward should be a more-accurate scale.

Way to go, 7 lbs (if the scale is correct) is still 7 lbs.

Hang in there! I've been on Weight Watchers for 6 months and have lost 6 pounds.

Seven pounds is GREAT! You're doing better than me. ;)

    Thanks, everyone.

Stick with it, Vodka! Six pounds is six pounds. Maybe think of it in terms of percentage of body weight lost. Sometimes that number is more encouraging than the actual number of pounds lost.

I don't know if there is such a thing as an accurate scale outside the Bureau of Weights and Measures. I've had three scales at medical facilities give readings that were as much as 10 pounds apart.

I'm actually considering buying a freight scale. They have to be accurate -- right? -- or the postal service/UPS/FedEx will nail you.

We have a freight scale at work, and no one from shipping ever indicates that the Post Office/UPS/FedEx said the weight we measured was wrong.
