1. Snowblower. It's loud.

Four Jobs I Have Had in My Life
1. Potato farm. Grew up on a potato farm. Had to work on it. Every September was harvest, which I hated. The harvester is a noisy dirty machine. Dead potato vines would ball up and get caught in the chains. Grandpa referred to these vines as "beavers." The hired hands sniggered about this, but I was twelve, thirteen, fourteen years old and blissfully unaware of the connotation.
2. Worked a concession stand at Beaver Creek Resort. The name of this concession stand was -- not making it up -- the Beaver Hut. I was fifteen years old and still blissfully unaware of the connotation.
3. Taco Bell. Applied for the job b/c I had a crush on a guy working there. A few years later he came out of the closet, so I guess I never had much of a chance with him because he wasn't interested in beavers.
4. Math and English tutor in college. Our school mascot was a beaver. Home of the Fighting Beavers! Okay, I am making that one up.

3 Things That Scare Me
1. Daddy’s sneezes. They’re terrifying loud.
2. Uncle Bryan.
3. Random noises that often aren’t loud at all, so Mommy and Daddy can’t figure out why I’m scared.

1. I don’t laugh, yet.
2. But I do smile.

1. My pacifier. I’m really attached to it.

1. Having to stop in the middle of a feeding to burp. This really pisses me off.
2. Being alone. It’s not good enough just to hear Mommy or Daddy’s voice. I have to be able to see them.

1. Why Mommy makes me stop in the middle of feeding to burp. Sure, I feel much better after burping, but that is so not the point.
2. What/Who those disembodied voices are when I’m alone.
3. Why people insist on touching my head. I hate it when people touch my head.

1. Don’t sit in a highchair yet.
3 Things I’m Doing Right Now
1. Sucking noisily on my hands in pacifierless moments. My hands are lifesavers.
2. Increasing drool production.
3. Occasionally sleeping four, five or six hours in a stretch. I even slept nearly eight hours in a row the other night.

1. No life goals yet.

1. Hold my head up as well as a baby twice my age.

1. Grasp objects. The articles Mommy reads tell her that I’m supposed to be able to do this, but she’s trying to ignore them. She consoles herself by remembering that I can hold my head up really well.

1. Impatient when anything, especially being burped, interferes with eating.

- Were you named after anyone? My middle name is Anne, but it was supposed to be Anna for my great-grandma. My mom was young, though, and listened to everyone who balked at a two-syllable middle name following a three-syllable first name. (Why didn't anyone balk at the terminal "a" in my first name followed by a beginning "a" in my middle name? Jessica Anne does not roll off the tongue.)

- When did you last cry? Can't remember. Not recently.
- What is your favorite lunch meat? Turkey.
